Monsieur Millipede

Taken with an old Canon EF 35-70mm lens I modified by removing the front element. The effective magnification is about 1.5-1.75 x life-size. I used a dual layer dvd and a spray bottle full of water to create the colored droplets and still not happy with the results I went outside and lifted up a rock and found a millipede who was nice enough to pose to create a pretty cool photo I think. BTW you should be able to modify any front element focusing lens to be a pretty good macro lens by removing the front element.

This is my sister maia, almost 8 years old at the time this photo was taken. This was down by the Kew Beach skating rink, since the winter was so warm the ice was melted and rough so we decided to go for a walk on the beach instead.

This was actually shot with a flash on the top of the camera bounced of the ceiling. I think they turned out well given the very basic lighting.

Around the Bend

Taken from the panorama car on the "Ocean" train from Halifax to Montreal. I took my tripod on the train ride back, woke up at 3am and went back there to see if I could get an interesting blur shot. Only one chance to get this right, I think it turned out fairly well.

Driving Cape Breton

Taken somewhere near the eastern shore of Cape Breton Island, we were racing down these winding roads trying to get to the coast before the sunset was completely over but I saw this spot and had to stop for this picture. Taken laying down on the road to get that unique perspective.

Magnetewan River Rapids

The view from the back yard of my friends cottage on the Magnetawan river. A ~100 second exposure and someone turned on the cottage lights for a minute which lit up the foreground quite nicely and completely by accident.
